I met my wife of 40 years at the club. I was working for Cadbury McVities Cakes in Blackpole and was training with the club but returning home at weekends to play for Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire.
However it was the opening of Sixways and I was selected to play for Worcester against Birmingham. Mike Gibson was a guest player for Worcester. Unfortunately or fortunately I was injured so ended up serving behind the bar. Into the bar walked my flatmate with some friends including Linda and the rest is history.
My colleagues at Worcester were Jim Coomber, Neville South and Mickey Knott who are no longer with us. I played in the back row for Worcester with Mickey and Ninian Davies in the North Midlands Cup Final when we lost to Dudley Kingswinford in the last few minutes. I've met Ninian at the Former Players lunch. Linda bought Mike Robin's MG Midget and I also had one.
I remember the late runs, the Easter Tours, Max Boyce at the club and Jeremy Richardson topless and bottomless behind the bar at the New Year Celebrations.
